Enyimba Win 2013 Fed Cup

Two-times African champions Enyimba FC of Aba on Sunday 2013 edition of Nigeria federation cup.

The Aba Elephants defeated Warri Wolves 5-4 on penalties after fulltime scores stood at 2-2.
Enyimba have previously won the country's cup competition in 2005 and 2009.

Incidentally, when both teams clashed twice in the league this season, both games failed to produce a goal.

Nigeria international Azubuike Egwuekwe’s penalty kick was saved by Enyimba goalkeeper Femi Thomas to deny Wolves a first-ever cup triumph.

Wolves took the lead in the 23rd minute, when Musa Najere tapped home on the goal line after skipper Egwuekwe knocked down a corner.

Enyimba restored parity 40 minutes later when the lively fullback Bright Esieme blasted home a loose ball after goalkeeper Okiemute Odah had punched the ball out of his goal area.

Wolves regained the lead on 79 minutes when Joseph Osadiaye netted a rebound from inside the box after goalkeeper Femi Thomas could not hold a shot from inside the box.

Enyimba drew level on 82 minutes through a delightfully taken free kick by left back Ugwu Uwadiegwu.

Wolves, featuring in their first-ever cup final, controlled proceedings in the first half, but Enyimba came back into the fray after the interval.

Enyimba striker Sibi Gwar tested the agility of goalkeeper Odah after seven minutes and 10 minutes later, his shot from the top of the box was wide off its mark.

Wolves also had their chances with Osadiaye blasting wide off target when he was put through on goal.

Early in the second half, Enyimba showed their intentions when Andrew Abalogu drew a good save from Wolves shot stopper Odah.
